Driver seriously hurt after slamming vehicle into wooden fence, tree

A driver is now in serious condition after he reportedly lost control of the vehicle he was driving and it crashed into a wooden fence along the No. 7 Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB) in the wee hours of Friday.

The injured man is 22-year-old Kenneth Williams of Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and of Essex Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice.

Police have said that on the day in question, at about 1:30h, motorcar PZZ 2887 was proceeding along the No. 7 Public Road at a fast rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it collided with a wooden fence before barreling into a tree.
Having sustained injuries about his body, Williams was pulled from the wreckage in an unconscious state by public-spirited persons and taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, West Coast Berbice, where he was treated and referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

There, he was further treated and admitted a patient. Investigations into the accident are ongoing. (G10)
