Drug possession lands father of 2 before Court

Taxi driver Haynes Taylor of Lot 60 Republic Road, New Amsterdam Berbice was on Wednesday arraigned before Georgetown Magistrate Judy Latchman on a charge detailing that on August 26, 2017 at Hunter and Sussex, Streets, Georgetown, he had in his possession six grams of crystal methamphetamines (a synthetic drug) in six transparent plastic bags concealed in a pink hat that he was wearing when he encountered a mobile police patrol.
The 31-year-old defendant denied that he had the drugs in his possession, but Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves told the court that the substance was found when the defendant was searched by the police, and he was accordingly told of the offence, and arrested and charged.
Magistrate Latchman placed the defendant on bail in the sum of ,000, and set the case for continuation on September 13. (Kizzy Coleman)
