Drunken brawl leaves forest ranger hospitalised

A 29-year-old forest ranger attached to the Guyana Forestry Commission is now a patient at the Orealla Hospital, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), after he was injured by two men during a drunken brawl.
The incident occurred just about 23:40h on Monday when Officer Karl Alpin was drinking with the two men.
Police said that the men all knew each other and an argument broke out followed by a scuffle.
One of the men then armed himself with a piece of wood and began beating Alpin.
The other man then joined in the fight.
Both men also received injuries with one requiring medical attention.
They are now in Police custody receiving medical attention while Alpin is hospitalised.
Investigations are still ongoing.
