A taxi driver has been released on $100,000 bail after he was charged for causing the death of Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) security officer, Norma Rose in an accident at Number 77 Village Public Road, Corriverton, Corentyne, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Dhanny Nankoo, 32, was arraigned before Magistrate Renita Singh on Thursday at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on May 23, 2021, he drove motor car HC 3098, in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of 41-year-old Rose. His case was postponed until July 7, 2021, for reports.
Guyana Times had previously reported that Rose, of Scottsburg, Coriverton, Corentyne, Berbice, was standing at the side of the road when the motor car which was proceeding at a fast rate of speed collided with her.
Rose was flung into the air and landed on the bonnet of the car before tumbling onto the parapet.
