Drunken excavator operator robbed by armed bandits

A 42-year-old man who hails from Houston, East Bank Demerara (EBD), is now counting his losses after he was robbed by two armed men while imbibing at Itaballi Landing Mazaruni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
Reports are the excavator operator was robbed at about 22:30h on Thursday.
The victim told Police that he was consuming alcohol with his employer and colleagues at a bar in the community when he became intoxicated and left the group to go and urinate.
He said he went onto a pontoon to do such and was approached by the two men, one of whom was armed with a gun. He was instructed not to move, while the men relieved him of some $600,000 before making good their escape.
Following the robbery, the man identified one of the men to the Police, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Police said after being questioned, the man denied the allegation. A search was conducted at his [the suspect’s] home, but nothing was found in relation to the robbery.
