Drunken lawyer arrested after hitting pedestrian

A popular attorney in Berbice is now in Police custody after he reportedly struck down a pedestrian on the Williamsburg Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice on Friday evening.
The victim is yet to be identified, but Guyana Times understands that the lawyer was highly intoxicated at time of the incident.
The Police have said that a breathalyser test administered on the lawyer proved that his alcohol consumption was above the legal limit.
Reports received reveal the 51-year-old attorney of East Coast Berbice, was proceeding along the roadway when he struck a male pedestrian who allegedly crossed the road and into the path of the motor van.
The injured man was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital, where he was treated and referred to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
However, as a result of the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
His condition is listed as critical.
