Dubai eyes investments in Guyana’s agri sector

Representative from Private Office of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum in Dubai, Gaspar Lino

A representative from the Private Office of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Gaspar Lino, recently met with Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha to discuss a number of investment opportunities in Guyana’s agriculture sector.
Lino is quoted in a press release from the Agriculture Ministry as expressing his country’s willingness to invest in Guyana’s agriculture sector in a number of areas.
Minister Mustapha, while giving an update on the meeting, said that the talks proved favourable and a detailed proposal of possible areas for investment would be submitted to the office of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum soon.
“We were able to draft a preliminary list of areas for investments for Mr Lino. My office is currently in the process of compiling a detailed investment package for him to take back to Dubai. As a Government, we understand the need for investments in all the sectors. As we work to revitalise and resuscitate the agriculture sector, the Ministry will be engaging a number of investors, both locally and internationally. There are a number of incentives and investment opportunities available, and I can easily say that there has been no better time to invest in Guyana,” Mustapha is quoted by the release as saying.
Some of the areas in the sector earmarked for investments are fertiliser production and assemblage, organic poultry rearing, coffee, cocoa, corn, soya bean, spices and online agriculture and product development.
