Guyanese up-and-coming umpire Nigel Duguid is amongst nine umpires from around the Caribbean and other parts of the world who will be tasked with officiating the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018.

The nine umpires will have an alternate colleague and will be grouped in order to oversee 34 matches, spanning six Caribbean countries and Lauderhill, USA.
Duguid, who had his T20 debut back in February 2014 umpiring a match-up between West Indies and Ireland, has been grouped with three other umpires who will officiate matches in Guyana, St Lucia and St Kitts from August 9 to September 9. Those umpires are Gregory Brathwaite (Barbados); Langton Rusere (Zimbabwe) and Denavon Hayles (Jamaica).
On the other hand, five umpires will oversee a larger portion of the matches, which are being hosted in Trinidad, Jamaica; Lauderhill and Barbados from August 8 to September 7. These officials are Joel Wilson (Trinidad); Patrick Gustard (Jamaica); Leslie Reifer Jr (Barbados); and Shaun George and Dev Govindjee (South Africa).
Additionally, the Hero CPL has also provided an opportunity for three USA umpires to officiate at the games in that country.
In those games, local umpires Jermaine Lindo and Sameer Bandekar will be on-field officials with Vijaya Mellela acting as fourth umpire during the match on August 22.
In the position of alternate umpire is Zahid Bassarath from Trinidad, who will also fulfil the role of fourth umpire in several of the matches.
The 2018 Hero CPL is set to begin on August 8 and end on September 16 with both starting and ending games being played in Trinidad.
