Duo arrested for allegedly selling ganja

Two men are now in police custody after they were found with 260 grams of ganja in their possession on Wednesday.

Police have said that an intelligence-led operation was conducted at an alleged ‘drug block’ in Wismar, Linden at some time between 17:45 and 18:15h. During that operation, a search was conducted on a 45-year-old male of North East La Penitence, Georgetown, who was reportedly under surveillance for selling cannabis in the area.
The search unearthed $15,990 in cash, suspected to be from the sale of narcotics. A further search was conducted in the area, and a bulky black plastic bag was found with several transparent plastic bags containing cannabis.
The suspect allegedly denied ownership of the cannabis, and said it belongs to his uncle, a 58-year-old farmer of Train Line, Wismar.
At the time of the raid, the man’s uncle was sitting in the ‘drug yard’. The ‘uncle’ was also arrested. The cannabis was weighed in their presence and amounted to 260 grams. These men remain in custody, pending charges.
