A 25-year-old construction worker of Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), and a 17-year-old labourer of Vergenoegen, EBE, were arrested on Sunday with a quantity of ganja.
Based on reports received, the two men were observed standing at a corner in the company of others in Vergenoegen, EBE, acting in a suspicious manner.
As such, a Police rank exited the patrol vehicle, approached one of the suspects, and identified himself as a Police rank in plain clothes. The policeman thereafter requested to carry out a search on his person and permission was granted.
While executing the search, the Police found one transparent Ziplock plastic bag containing a quantity of cannabis.
A search was also conducted on the second suspect and he too was found in possession of a quantity of ganja in the right-side pocket of his pants. The illegal plant was found wrapped in a piece of brown paper.
Both of them were told of the offence, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to the Leonora Police Station where the ganja was weighed in their presence and amounted to 3.4 grams.
Both suspects are presently in custody assisting with investigations.
