Duo busted with ganja in separate Police operations

A resident of Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), and a resident of Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), have been arrested in separate incidents following the discovery of a quantity of ganja in their possession.

In the Bartica incident, the Police have said that, on Wednesday, a 24-year-old man was arrested at Bartica with 62 grams of cannabis in his possession.
Based on reports received, on the day in question, at about 18:00h, ranks of the Bartica Police Station conducted a routine search on the passengers of an inbound speedboat and unearthed a transparent plastic bag that was hidden in the crotch of the 24-year-old. Upon inspection, the Police discovered the cannabis, and the passenger claimed ownership thereof.

The passenger was taken to the Bartica Police Station, where the drug was weighed in his presence and amounted to 62 grams. He has been arrested pending charges.
In the Linden incident, a 27-year-old male of West Watooka, Wismar, Linden was arrested after he was busted with 21 grams of cannabis in his possession at the Mackenzie Market square.
The Police have said that a party of ranks, acting on information received, went to the Mackenzie Market square and conducted a search on the suspect, who was seen in the area.
“A white plastic bag with eight small, bulky Ziplock bags containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found on his person,” the Police have said in a release.
The suspect was told of the offence, cautioned, and arrested. He remains in custody pending charges.
