Deon Chand and Shamar Charles of Agricola, Georgetown, both pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them by Magistrate Leron Daly.

The charge alleged that on August 26, 2016 at Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) while being in the company of others, they were in possession of a shot gun without being the holder of a gun licence.

The Prosecution contended that Police searched a vehicle that the defendants were in and discovered the gun in the trunk of the car.

The other occupants managed to escape.

However, Charles’ attorney in a bail application told the court that he was hired to take several persons to Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

He said when his client reached the destination, the passengers disembarked but requested that he wait until they completed a business transaction.

While waiting, Police officers arrested him and searched the car and the shotgun was found in the trunk.

The passengers upon return recognised what was occurring and escaped. However, the teen was caught by Police.

Chand was granted $250,000 and Charles $150,000. Both men will next appear in court on September 9.
