A male and a female were on Monday taken into custody following the discovery of a firearm in the village of Princeville, at Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).

Based on information received, as the Police continue their efforts to remove illegal weapons from the streets in a bid to make communities safer, ranks in Regional Division Eight carried out an exercise at a home in Princeville and found a 20-gauge shotgun and a cartridge casing. As a result, a male and female who were at the house at the time were arrested, and are expected to be charged shortly.
The Police have recently stated that, for 2021, some 71 firearms were seized by the GPF. These comprise 36 pistols, 18 revolvers, and 17 shotguns.
