Home News Duo injured after motorcycles collide
Two motorcyclists are now injured following an accident along Republic Road, Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice, on Sunday.
The injured men are 27-year-old Mickal Benjamin of Tucber Park New Amsterdam, Berbice, and Persaud Hussain, 41, of Health Centre Street Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
At the time of the accident, Benjamin was on motorcycle CK 1272 while Hussain was driving motorcycle bearing registration number CD 9860.
Based on reports received, Benjamin was proceeding along Republic Road at a normal rate of speed while Hussain was heading the opposite direction.
Benjamin allegedly told Police that Hussain pulled into his path and as such, to avoid a collision, he swerved, but Hussain pulled back into his path, thus causing a collision.
As a result of the collision, both drivers fell onto the roadway and received injuries about their bodies. They were assisted by public-spirited citizens who took them to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where they were treated.
Benjamin reportedly suffered a fractured right foot and was admitted as a patient while Hussain was treated for a fractured right leg but he was sent away. The matter was reported to the Police and an investigation is underway.
