Two men slapped with a joint charge of robbery under arms were remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Wednesday when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The men, Anthony Persaud and Randy Smith, denied that on November 4, 2018 at Hinck Street, Georgetown, while armed with an ice pick – they robbed Owen Marks of one Samsung Galaxy S6 cellphone valued $70,000.
Police Prosecutor Warren Thornhill objected to bail for Persaud, 23, of Lot 19 Albertttown, Georgetown and Smith, 18, of Lot C Hadfield Street, Georgetown.
The Prosecutor’s objections were based on the nature, prevalence and seriousness of the charge. Prosecutor Thornhill also informed the court that the men were previously before the court for charges of a similar nature.
Magistrate Azore upheld the prosecution’s submissions and remanded the duo to prison. The case will continue on November 28, 2018.
