Duo slapped with $2.3M fraud charge

Julianne Faulcher, a 36-year-old nurse of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), and Compton Beckles, her 58-year-old accomplice of Lot 166 Middle Road, La Penitence, appeared on Monday before Georgetown Magistrate Marissa Mittelholzer jointly charged with fraud.
The duo both denied the allegation that on November 22, 2018 at Georgetown, with intent to defraud, they obtained from Shaheed Ali $2.3 million by falsely pretending that they were in a position to sell him a BMW motor vehicle, knowing same to be false.
Beckles’s defence attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat, in a bail application, told the court that his client has neither previous antecedents nor matters pending, and should be granted bail.
Defence attorney for Faulcher presented a similar argument in applying for bail for his client.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore did not object to either defendant being placed on bail, thus they were granted bail in the sum of $60,000 each, and are expected to make their next court appearance on January 25, 2019.
