Eagles United, Net Rockers through to semifinals

Divine Entertainment Summer Cup…

Top-ranked Eagles United and Net Rockers are through to the semifinals of this year’s inaugural Divine Entertainment Summer Super Cup, after wins on Wednesday night.
Tonight (Friday), at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, two more matches will be played to decide the other semifinalist.
In the first game of the evening, Net Rockers sailed past Blueberry Hill 3-0 because of goals scored by their top players: Shane Luckie, who scored in the 29th minute; Denzil Pryce, who scored in the 81st; and Deshawn Joseph, who scored in the 87th minute of play. The win ensures the Eagles are through, after both teams had drawn their matches against the other team in Group ‘B’, Amelia’s Ward Panthers.
In the Group ‘A’ semifinal encounter, Eagles United, the number one team, turned back the challenge of Coomacka, who again began the scoring — this time in the 3rd minute through Ronny Sanchez — as they had done when they had recorded an upset win against Topp XX.
However, Eagles United would have none of it happening, and responded to level the scores in the 30th minute, so ending the first half on even keel.
The winning goal came in the 58th minute, after a foul had resulted in a free kick being awarded the Eagles side. Through Colwyn ‘Buck’ Drakes, they blasted it into the back of the net in the 58th minute, and never relinquished that 2-1 lead to come away victorious.
Tonight’s first game, at 19:00hrs, pits Capital FC against Hi Stars in a Group ‘C’ game, while in Group ‘D’, Botafago and Silver Shattas meet at 21:00hrs to decide which of the two will move on to the final four.
