Eagles United wins UDFA U-17 Round League

In front of a sizeable and vocal crowd the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) U-17 Round Robin League ended on a high note with an exciting finals between Amelias Ward Panthers and Eagles United. The match saw a very defensive first half by both teams which ended scoreless.

After the break, the Eagles with a more attacking style of play and their talisman Shemar Brewley maintaining pressure on the Panthers defence manage to find the back of the net from the top of the 18 in the 54th minute. The game maintained its high intensity with the Panthers striking in the 70th minute, however the goal was disallowed which saw the Eagles soaring to a one nil victory.

In the third place match up Net Rockers made light work of Mile Rock when Reon Tappin scored the first goal in the 26th minute, and Joel Isaacs netted the second and third goals in the 60th and 66th minutes respectively. Shemar Brewley was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament while Joel Isaacs copped the prize for the most goals scored.

UDFA President, Sharma Solomon and other representatives assisted with the presentation of trophies.

The tournament which saw twelve teams being placed into two groups of six, played over a nine weeks period and was sponsored by: UDFA, Petra Organization, BOSAI Minerals, Dave and Celina’s and Sports Plus.
