A man identified only as “Gandy,” believed to be between 30 and 40 years old and of no fixed place of abode, was fatally stabbed during a confrontation on Monday morning at Hadfield Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.
Reports are that the incident occurred around 01:30h in the Hadfield Street where preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was approached by an identifiable man and a scuffle ensued between the two men.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the victim once to the centre of his chest. The injured man collapsed at the scene, while the attacker fled in a northern direction, still in possession of the weapon.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). Investigators have since reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area as part of ongoing efforts to trace the suspect, who remains at large. The body is currently at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting formal identification and a Most-Mortem Examination (PME).
