East Bank Blazers upset Tucber Park A

Philburt Wilburgh’s brilliant innings of 69 led the East Bank Blazers to a 4-wicket win against Tucber Park A at Sister Ground on the East Bank of Berbice, on Sunday last.

Chasing 112 for victory in the 100-ball contest, Wilburgh, a hard-hitting officer, struck four sixes and six fours to lead the Blazers to victory.
He was supported by Carl Campbell, who hit two sixes in his cameo innings of 18 as East Bank Blazers ended victorious on 113-6 in 15 overs. Bowling for Tucber Park, former national youth pacer Nial Smith grabbed 4-11 in four overs of high-quality fast bowling. Orlando Tanner and off-spinner Kwesi Mickle had one wicket each for Tucber Park A.
Earlier, Tucber Park posted 111 all out, losing wickets early in their innings; former Berbice Under-19 opener Malcolm Mickle went for three. The aggressive Martin Singh smashed two sixes in his innings of 16, but the middle order stumbled. At 26-2, Tucber Park A further slumped to 68-6. In the process, they lost Guyana Under-19 batsman Garfield Benjamin (09), Clifton Lindie (00), Smith (06) and Kwesi Mickle (04) for single digits.
Tanner, however, hit some big shots in his top score of 29, which was decorated with two fours and two sixes. Joel Davis hit two sixes in his brief knock of 16 while Nicholas Veren made 12 runs, which included one six and a consolation four. Luke Wilson was the star with the ball for East Bank Blazers with 3-12 in three good overs while Jomal Chisholm, Osman Gilead and Devon Lewis had two wickets each for 12 runs.
