East Bank, Georgetown secure opening round wins

East Bank Demerara’s duo of Stephon Wilson and Sachin Singh dismantled East Coast to win by six wickets when the first round of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Under 19 Inter Association Tournament got underway on Tuesday at Lusignan Community Centre Ground.
East Coast Demerara won the toss and elected to take first strike but their decision proved futile, as Wilson wreaked havoc with 4-19 from six overs to dismiss the opposition for 101. The left-arm spinner was well supported by Dwain Dick and Sagar Hathirmani who both took two wickets a piece.

Andre Seepersaud

Rajendra Singh top scored with 25 not out while Robin Williams and Alvin Goriah scored 17 and 14 respectively as their team only batted 40 of their allotted 50 overs.
In reply East Bank raced to 103 for 4 in 25 overs with Singh hitting a top scored of 39 while Dick and Jeremiah Scott scored 19 and 13 respectively.
Hathirmani was not out on 14 as Predesh Ballkishun took 2-26 while Damuka Nyqondo picked up 1-19 and Saddiq Khan grabbed 1-11.

Diquan Bamfield

Over at the Everest Cricket ground, Georgetown crush West Demerara with Adrian Hinds hitting 62 in the chase of 149 which they achieved with five down in 41 overs. Christopher Campbell and Nkosi Beaton had scored of 32 and 20 respectively with Kenard Moonsammy and Troy Persaud being the most successful with two wickets each.
When West Demerara batted their total was built on Andre Seepersaud who made an unbeaten 54 as his side was skittle out in 44.3 overs. Diquan Bamfield was the most instrumental grabbing 4 for 32 off 10 overs while Wayne Bollers took 2 for 21 off 6 overs.
