East Bank woman on trial for obtaining money under false pretence 

The preliminary trial of the State against Nazia Persaud continued at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Persaud, 36, of 44 Grove, East Bank Demerara and of 56 A Unity Place Ruimveldt, Georgetown, is facing the charge of obtaining money under false pretence.
The court heard that Persaud allegedly obtained money from the Virtual Complainant (VC) Niomi Ceon by falsely pretending that she was in the position to construct a house for the said VC. Several witnesses testified and the trial was adjourned until May 7, when more witnesses will take the stand for the defendant.
