East Coast and Georgetown secure wins

In the DCB Under-19 Inter- Association tournament for 2019, Georgetown thrashed West Demerara by 49 runs in a match played at the Wales community centre ground.

West Demerara won the toss and elected to field. This decision apparently favoured Georgetown, who thought it was a good batting surface and sought to take advantage of their opportunity to bat first. They could muster only 118 all out from 38 of their allotted 50 overs.
Adrian Hinds top scored with 28, while Dequan Bamfield was not out on 18, and Bryon Bowen chipped in with 15.
Bowling for West Demerara, Satesh Bisram was most destructive, grabbing 5 for 29; while Joshua Rahaman collected 3 for 20.
In reply, West Demerara struggled to reach their victory target, and were bowled out for a mergre 69 from just 25 overs.
Taijanath Tadunauth was the only batsman to score double- figures — 18. Daniel Mootoo was the most terrifying bowler, claiming 4 for 9; while Joel Spooner took 3 for 30.
Georgetown won the encounter by 49 runs.
Meanwhile over at Lusignan, East Coast won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored a well composed 188 for 4 from their reduced 45 overs; with Robin Williams scoring a brilliant 109 which included 10 sixes, while Pradesh Balkishun chipped in with 28 not out.
Bowling for East Bank Demerara, Vickash Jaikaran collected 2 for 29.
In reply, East Bank Demerara cautiously achieved their target, scoring 189 for 7 in 44.5 overs; with national under-15 player Mavindra Dindyal top-scoring with 58, while Yustridar Persaud and Andsuega Rodrigues scored 43 and 42 respectively.
Bowling for East Coast Demerara, Sheffek Khan took 2 for 24, as East Bank won the encounter by 3 wickets.
The final round of the DCB Under-19 Inter-Association tournament will be played today, Saturday 27th April, 2019, with East Bank Demerara battling Georgetown at Wales, and East Coast Demerara facing West Demerara at Lusignan.
All matches start at 9:00 hours.
