East Coast woman robbed at gunpoint on Croal Street

Police are now investigating an incident which saw a woman being robbed of her handbag containing cosmetics and a small amount of cash on Sunday.
Anita Sugrim, 39, a vendor of Nonpareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was relieved of one shoulder bag containing cosmetics valued $10,000 by two identifiable males, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
The incident occurred about 15:00h at Croal and Pollard Streets while the victim was awaiting transportation. The perpetrators  rode up to her from an eastern direction on Croal Street and the one being towed took out the weapon from his waist, pointed it at the victim and told her to hand over her bag.
The victim complied and the perpetrators then escaped on the said bicycle south on Pollard Street. No shots were fired or injuries sustained by the victim. The incident was reported to the Brickdam Police Station at 15:20h, and the scene visited at 15:45h by Police. Several CCTV cameras were seen in the area. Statements were taken as the investigation continues.
