East La Penitence man charged for murder of pregnant ex-girlfriend
The East La Penitence, Georgetown man who allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death last month, was on Thursday arraigned on a charge for the capital offence of murder at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts.
Dead: Loretta Simon, Murder accused Terrence Thomas
Terrence Thomas, 34, called “Oosh” of Lot 3 East La Penitence, Georgetown, was remanded to prison until next month.
He was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge which stated that on January 27, 2022, at C Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, he murdered 24-year-old Loretta Simon.
Simon, of Albouystown, Georgetown, was fatally stabbed after her ex-boyfriend went to her mother’s home where she had been staying, asked her for some water and started to demand that she tell him the reason why she ended their relationship.
The woman’s younger sister, who is only nine, related that her sister told the man to leave her mother’s premises but he whipped out a knife from the waist of his pants and stabbed her sister in the region of her heart.
As he ran away, he dropped the murder weapon in the yard.
Emergency Medical Technicians from Alberttown Fire Station were summoned and they pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
The now dead woman was allegedly threatened by her former partner last year, and after enduring a period of abuse, she ended the relationship. Guyana Times was informed that the man began to stalk the woman, forcing her to move in with relatives in Albouystown.
However, Simon moved on with her life and was two months pregnant for someone else. Following the stabbing incident, the Police issued a wanted bulletin for Thomas, who was only apprehended on Monday at a house in Queenstown, Georgetown. (G1)
