East Ruimveldt man gunned down at D’Urban St

Police have launched an investigation into the gunning down of an East East Ruimveldt, Georgetown man on Monday evening at the corner of D’Urban and Chapel Streets, Georgetown.

Dead is Rondel Haynes called “Trini” of Lot 428 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
When this newspaper arrived on the scene, persons in the area said that they heard multiple gunshots and then they saw the body of the father of one on the roadway. This newspaper was told that Haynes recently returned from Barbados.
Guyana Times understands that at about 19:00h, Haynes and another friend were hanging out in front of a business place on D’Urban and Chapel Streets when an armed man pounced on them and started firing shots.
The dead man was shot three times to the head and several times about his body.
Emergency services arrived and pronounced him dead.
Shortly after the shooting, family members arrived on the scene and were trying to come to grips with the passing of Haynes.
His sister, Sherona Haynes, told reporters that she received a call from someone informing her that her brother was shot.
She related that she rushed to the scene where she confirmed her worst fears as she saw her brother lying in a pool of blood. She stated that she has no idea why someone would want to end her brother’s life. Haynes leaves to mourn a child, a girlfriend and his family members.
Investigations are ongoing.

Only, last month, 47-year-old Kissoondatt Premsukh, a contractor of Lot 138 Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was executed by two armed men at his D’Urban Street, Lodge worksite.
