East Strikers advance to Busta T20 festival semis

– Jailall punishes Enterprise B with masterful 92

Lusignan East Strikers continued their progression in cricket along the East Coast of Demerara when they advanced to semi-finals of the Enterprise Cricket Club’s Busta T20 cricket festival.
In their quarter final match on Saturday at the Enterprise Community Centre ground, the recently formed East Strikers beat seasoned campaigners Enterprise Busta B by 23 runs. East Strikers batted first and tallied 161 all out from their 20 overs with Hiradeo Jailall hitting seven fours and seven sixes in a commanding knock of 92. He was supported by Roy Singh with 34. Singh and Jailall joined forces at 8 for 2 in the fourth over and put on a match-winning 135-run partnership. For Enterprise Busta B, R. Khan picked up five wickets.

In the run chase, D. Persaud (32) and Nishad Ulla (20) were the only batsmen to offer any resistance for Enterprise Busta B who labored to 138-8 falling short of the semi-finals by 23 runs. Ayube Sammy (2/17) and Kevin McKenzie (2/12) were the most destructive East Strikers bowlers.
On their way to the quarter finals, East Strikers defeated Bee Hive by four wickets in the round of 16 on October 22 at the Fairfield Community Centre ground. Bee Hive batted first and managed just 103 all out in 19.3 overs with Davindra Rooplall hitting the top score of 35. For East Strikers, Travis Persaud was unplayable with 4/14 from his quota of four overs while Ayube Sammy supported well with 2/15 from four overs. The target was never a threat and East Strikers chased it down with five overs to spare ending on 104 for 6 in 15 overs. Jailal made 26 and Khemraj Jailall 18 not out. Bowling for Bee Hive Marvin Stuart bagged 3 for 26 from three overs.

East Strikers will now meet Enterprise Busta A on Saturday for a place in the final while Fairfield and Better Hope will battle in the other semi-final on the same day. Both matches will be played at the Enterprise Community Centre ground.
