EBE crush Leguan by 160 runs

East Bank Essequibo Combine crushed Leguan Combine by 160 runs yesterday at Tuschen Ground, East Bank Essequibo in the latest action of the Guyana Cricket Board Demerara Mutual, Ministry of Education National Secondary Schools Champions League.

Leguan Combine having won the toss, decided to field first. However, their decision to take to the field seemed somewhat insignificant, as their opponents amassed a competitive 206 all out, off just 38 overs of their allotted 50 overs.
In fact, at one stage East Bank Essequibo appeared set to make an even bigger total, but their efforts were thwarted by Leguan bowlers Shaquille Trim and Malcolm Caesar who grabbed 3-17 off five overs and 4-63 off 10 overs respectively. Batting for East Bank Essequibo Joel Gill made 34, Safraz Khan 34 and Bashkar Baldeo 31.
In reply, Leguan were bowled out for a paltry 46. Bowling for East Bank Essequibo Azim Mohamed took 3-13, Joel Gill 2-8, Sukhdeo Singh 2- 9 and Onassie Kingston 2-17.
Action in the combined phase of the league, continues today with East Bank Essequibo-Leguan battling Bartica-Wakenaam at the Tuschen ground from 09:30h.
Meanwhile, the GCB/DMLAS/MOE/NSSCL Inter-School national semi-final between Chase Academy and Lower Corentyne will be played today at the Albion Ground from 11:00h.
National youth players, Ashmead Nedd, Dwaine Dick and Sachin Singh are expected to lead the reigning champions while the Ancient County unit is predicted to be strong contenders for an upset in today heated clash.
West Demerara Secondary have already booked a place to the Inter School finals, which is scheduled to be played on the 24 March, 2017 at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground.
