ECCC/SPR Ent 40 Overs continues today

─ Narendra Mohammed among star performers in previous round

The SPR Enterprise/ECCC 40 Overs cricket competition continued last Sunday with several matches being played on the East Coast of Demerara.
In the first encounter, Enterprise BSC (EBSC) defeated Strathavon ‘A’ by 5 wickets at the EBSC ground, thus securing for themselves vital points in Group ‘B’ in their quest to progress to the semi-finals.

Batting first, Strathavon ‘A’ scored 194-9, with Gobinraj Hemraj stoking 85. Zaheer Mohamed bagged 3 for 41 from 8 overs.
EBSC reached 197-5 in 38 overs, with Zaheer Mohamed returning to remain unbeaten on 61.
Ogle CC, who are also in line for a semi-final spot in Group ‘A’, whipped Mahaica SC by 186 runs at the Ogle ground. Batting first, Ogle CC scored 263-6 in 40 overs, with Khenchandra Dindyal hitting 82 not out and Andrew Samaroo scoring 74.
Mahaica SC were then bowled out for 77 in 20 overs, with Ayodha Persaud taking 4 wkts for 21 runs.
Lusignan East defeated Buxton SC by 64 runs at Enterprise ground. With both Group ‘A’ teams competing with Fairfield SC for a semi-final spot, Lusignan East were dismissed for 232 in 38 overs. The Jailall boys hit 66 and 41 respectively. Andre McFarlane took 3-67, and Owen Andrews 3-20 for Buxton SC.
Buxton SC were restricted to 168 all out in 34 overs, with Anthony McFarlane stroking 63. Pradesh Balkissoon took 4-47 from 8 overs for Lusignan East.
Cane Grove SC defeated Strathavon SC ‘B’ at Cane Grove ground. Strathavon ‘B’ were bundled out for 116 in 22 overs, with Narendra Mohammed taking 6-15.
Cane Grove SC then reached 118 in 14 overs, with Jermain Persaud taking 3 for 43 for Stathavon ‘B’.
Lusignan ‘B’ defeated Golden Achievers SC at Lusignan ground. No scores were available.
Preliminary matches in the SPR Enterprise competition will continue this weekend with matches being played at Fairfield and Strathavon.
