ECD businessman charged with felonious wounding

Fifty-four-year-old Suruj Basraj, c/d “Monkey” and “Vickram”, a businessman of Chateau Margot, East Coast Demerara, has been charged with the offence of felonious wounding and has been placed on $450,000 bail.

Arrested two weeks ago, he was on Tuesday arraigned before Sparendaam Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the accused has pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was laid contrary to Section 57 (a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act. He has been granted his pre-trial liberty, and the matter has been adjourned to February 17.
