Thirty-five-year-old Jethro Jones of First Street Paradise, ECD, was on Monday charged with the offence of possession of firearm without licence and appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court.

Jones was arrested after a search was carried out on him by Joint Services ranks who were conducting a COVID-19 enforcement at a bar in Melanie, East Coast Demerara, early Sunday morning.
It is alleged that Police found one .32 Taurus pistol concealed in his pants waist but he could not produce a licence for same, which led to his arrest.
In court on Monday, Jones pleaded not guilty and was placed on $150,000 bail. The case will continue on May 30.
