ECD man nabbed with illegal gun, ganja

Police have arrested a man at Melanie, East Coast Demerara (ECD), who had in his possession an illegal firearm with matching ammunition and a quantity of cannabis.
Police spokesman, Superintended Jairam Ramlakhan, said in a report that at about 18:45h on Saturday, a Police mobile patrol stopped and searched the man on Melanie Public Road and found a snub-nosed revolver with four matching rounds in its chamber. The man also had in his possession a “small quantity” of suspected cannabis. The weapon will be sent for ballistics to confirm if it was used in any criminal activity. The man remains in custody and charges are likely to be laid soon.
