ECD man remanded to prison after firing gun at Linden event

A 28-year-old man of Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara, has been charged in connection with a firearm incident at Retrieve Hard Court, Mackenzie, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
On Monday, Kevin Adams appeared via Zoom before Magistrate Rushell Liverpool, at the Linden Magistrate’s Court. He was charged for unlawful possession of a firearm without a licence contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearm Act, Chapter 16:05; possession of ammunition without a licence, Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearm Act, Chapter 16:05 and discharging a loaded firearm within 100 yards of a public way, Section 153(1)(iii) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:02.

Police on duty at the venue on Saturday reported observing a firearm being discharged. Adams was intercepted and, during a search, officers allegedly found a .32 Taurus pistol, a magazine, and ten live .32 rounds in his possession. He was arrested and taken into custody along with the firearm and ammunition. No injuries were reported from the incident.
When the charges were read, Adams pleaded not guilty to all charges and was remanded to prison. He is scheduled to return to court on January 13, 2026.
