ECD man succumbs 1 week after Rockstone accident

One week after he was involved in an accident along the Rockstone Trail, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), 56-year-old Alwyn John succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD) resident was listed in serious condition since the accident and took his last breath on Thursday about 16:00h. His body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
It was reported that on September 18, John, who was employed with the Amerindian Affairs Ministry, and 32-year-old Olinda Solomon, a businesswoman of Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) were travelling along the Rockstone Trail when the vehicle turned turtle.

After the accident, John was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) in an unconscious state with severe injuries to his head and body. Solomon sustained injuries to her left hand and body.
It was reported that John was driving a motor pick-up on the Rockstone Trail when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn. As a result, the vehicle toppled several times before coming to a halt.
John and Solomon were pulled from the wreckage and taken to the LHC, where they were both admitted.
However, owing to the severity of John’s condition, he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
