Two East Coast Demerara (ECD) men will be arraigned in court shortly on separate drunk driving charges.

In the first case, Police said, Andy Sugrim, 33, of Rebecca’s Rust, Mahaicony, ECD, was caught driving under the influence on the Mahaica Public Road, ECD. When Police ranks performed breathalyser tests on him, he failed both of them. In the first test, his breath alcohol content (BAC) was .168%. In the second reading, it was .124%.
As such, he was charged and processed to attend the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.
In the second case, Police said, 27-year-old Mahendra Arjune of Haslington Housing Scheme, ECD was charged with the offence of driving under the influence on the access road in that community.
He, too, was breathalysed, and the first and second readings were .296%BAC and .308BAC, respectively. He will be arraigned at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court.
