ECD teachers successfully complete cricket workshop

The National Sport Commission (NSC) through the Ministry of Education held a three-day workshop for Primary school teachers in the lower East Coast Demerara ward at Mahaica Jonestown Cricket Club Ground.

The event which occurred last Tuesday to Thursday was organized by cricket coach, scorer and umpire Daniel Richmond.
The teachers went through several basic introductory lessons to enhance their knowledge of the sport. What they have learnt will be used aas guidelines to better assist them in their coaching techniques to their pupils.
Areas of batting, bowling and fielding as well as discipline were the main focus during the workshop which was attended by a score of teachers.
It is the second such known drive in recent times by the NSC to get teachers equipped with the basic knowledge of the game. Approximately two weeks ago, coach Latchman Yadram also conducted a similar programme in region two. Richmond’s next workshop is slated for Linden followed by another in Essequibo.
