Education Minister meets with National Commission on Disabilities

Education Minister Priya Manickchand on Wednesday met with some executive members of the National Commission on Disabilities (NCD).

During the meeting, which was held in the Ministry’s boardroom, Manickchand stated that the Ministry has been working to improve the education delivery for students with disabilities. She highlighted that focus is placed on teachers’ training, with a curriculum being done for teachers desirous of being trained in special needs education.
National Commission on Disabilities’ acting Chairperson Vidushi Persaud- McKinnon was joined by Executive Secretary Beverly Pyle, Programme Officer Sondra Davidson-Low, and Commissioner Shelly Wilson.
Also present at the meeting was the Ministry’s Chief Planning Officer Nicola Johnson and National Special Education Needs Officer Savvi Hopkinson.
