The Ministry of Education is encouraging all students, parents and teachers to report incidents of bullying as part of its ongoing Anti – Bullying, Anti – Violence campaign aimed at protecting children in digital spaces.
In an awareness post made on January 14 on the Ministry’s Facebook page, the ministry emphasised that all children deserve to be protected from online bullying, noting that harmful behaviour can occur through phones, computers and even social media platforms.
The ministry explained that bullying online can come in many forms such as sending threatening messages or comments, posting a person’s photos or videos without consent, or pretending to be someone else online to cause harm.
Students who experience or witness bullying are being urged to speak up and seek help through the ministry of Education’s Anti – Bullying reporting system. This platform allows for individuals to submit reports confidentially and track the status of their complaints.
According to the ministry, the system is designed to ensure that cases are addressed promptly while safeguarding the privacy of those involved.
The anti-Bullying, anti-violence initiative, which was launched in the latter part of 2025, is part of the Ministry’s strategy to prioritise the safety of students across all schools nationwide.
According to the Education Minister, Sonia Parag, the Ministry will build on measures that were previously put in place and intensify its engagement in this new term. This move followed several reported incidents of bullying and fighting in schools across the country in 2024 and 2025, including cases that circulated on social media and raised public concerns of students’ safety.
To complement the campaign, the Ministry has introduced an online reporting app that allows students, parents and teachers to report bullying incidents confidentially. Minister Parag said the system is part of efforts to respond to cases and to monitor trends in student safety nationwide.
“It’s a really important app for us and it will help us at the Ministry of education to monitor to respond to situations of bullying, because we want to reduce and at some point, eliminate bullying altogether,” she said.
The Ministry of Education continues to stress on the importance of keeping a safe learning environment for all students, both in schools and online and is calling on parents, teacher and students to work in unison to combat bullying in all forms.
