Elderly man hospitalised after hit-and-run accident

An elderly man was hospitalised after he was struck by a minibus in a hit-and-run accident Saturday morning.
Patrick Ennis, 86, of Pigeon Place, South Ruimveldt Park Georgetown was reportedly riding along Homestretch Avenue in the vicinity of the National Communication Network when he was struck by a speeding minibus.

According to information gathered, the driver of a Route 48 minibus bearing registration plate BTT 7720 swerved from hitting another vehicle but instead hit the elderly man. He then lost control of the minibus and ended up in a nearby canal.
Additional information garnered by this publication revealed that the driver who was proceeding east along the avenue fled the scene after hitting the elderly man.
At the scene of the accident, several persons who are acquainted with the driver attempted to contact him however, these attempts proved futile.
The bus however was pulled from the canal and taken to a police station as traffic ranks launched their inevitable investigations. Meanwhile, the elderly man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted a patient.
