Elderly woman before the court for failure to pay rent

An elderly woman was made to answer to Magistrate Faith McGusty as to the reason for her failing to pay a binding agreement which she entered into with her Landlord.

Ellen DeFraitas answered to the charge, telling the Magistrate that she was guilty of owing Paula Bess a considerable amount of money, since May of this year.

According to the facts of the matter, the defendant failed to pay the agreed amount; that is $18,000 per month, as per the term of the agreement made.

As such, the total amount owed since May of this year had accumulated to $127,000.

The elderly woman explained that she had no means of getting the money, but added she will pay the total amount owed by December 19.

As such, the matter will return to Courts Eight and Nine of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on December 19 at which time the total amount owed should be paid off.
