Elite League 2025: Slingerz go 7 for 7; as Mainstay Goldstars’ struggles continue

Slingerz Football Club remained unbeaten, while Western Tigers, Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Fruta Conquerors FC have all recorded victories at the National Training Center at Providence, when this season of the Elite League continued over the weekend.
On Saturday, Mainstay Goldstars’ struggles continued, as Western Tigers FC trashed the bottom of the table team by a 13-1 scoreline. Stephon Reynolds took the spotlight in the first half of the game, recording 5 goals within that time. Mainstay again capitulated to the pressure in the second half as Samuel Garnett got his hat trick while Mark Phillips and Keron Powell netted a brace each.
Truston Gordon also scored for the Western Tigers.

Stephon Reynolds scored 5 goals

Tian Mendonca’s consolation goal in the 80th minute was the only positive moment of the night for Goldstars FC, as the search for their first win in the league this season continues.
Seven was the lucky number of the night from a Slingerz FC perspective, as they extended their unbeaten run to seven games in a row; defeating Ann’s Grove United by a 7-0 scoreline. In the 3rd and 16th minutes of the game, Kemar Beckford got Slingerz off to a fast start as his good form continued.
The game was still in reach for Ann’s Grove United, as halftime came with the scoreline at 2-0. However, Slingerz didn’t let up the pressure in the second half, as they continued to outplay and outclass their opposition. Slingerz extended their lead in the 49th minute via Curtez Kellman as they went up 3-0.

Kemar Beckford scored 4

Ann’s Grove United watched it all fall away as Kelsey Benjamin scored and Beckford completed his helmet-trick, scoring in the 58th and 63rd minutes. Marcus Tudor’s 90th-minute goal capped off an excellent night for Slingerz FC.
On Sunday, Fruta Conquerors FC went up against Den Amstel FC in a closely contested game. Both teams showed ambition, fight and endeavour throughout the course of the encounter. Ultimately, it was Jermaine Padmore who had the important moment of the game, scoring in the 76th minute to hand Fruta Conquerors what can be considered an upset win.
Later on, GDF FC went head-to-head against Santos FC in the weekend’s final match. Halftime came with the scoreline at 1-1. Chris Macey netted early for GDF, and a late stoppage-time goal by Carl Griffith got Santos FC back in the game.
But GDF toiled assiduously and eventually broke down the Santos’ defense, scoring 3 goals in the space of eleven minutes. Colin Nelson, Ian Dooker, and Jeffery Pereira were the goal scorers as GDF recorded a 4-1 victory.
The Elite League will continue with doubleheaders next weekend, likely at the same venue.
