The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and defending champions Slingerz recorded commanding victories when Season Eight of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League continued with another double-header at the National Training Centre, Providence, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Sunday night.
GDF produced the larger win of the evening, defeating Den Amstel 6-0, while Slingerz secured a 3-0 victory over Santos in the second match.
Shakeem Welcome handed GDF a dream start by opening the scoring in the second minute. Ian Dooker doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute, allowing the soldiers to enter the halftime break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
GDF remained in control after the restart and Abumchi Opara, who entered at halftime for Shaquan Joseph, made it 3-0 in the 58th minute.

Jayden Harris added another goal in the 70th minute, eight minutes after replacing Quaency Fraser, before fellow substitute Seon Cato found the net in the 80th.
Opara then completed his double in the 90th minute to seal the six-goal victory. Jeffery Pereira was shown a yellow card in the 88th minute for GDF.
Den Amstel s Quasi Domingo received a yellow card in the 63rd minute, while Cleavon Murray and team official Kevon Nelson were cautioned in the 85th minute.
In the night s second encounter, Slingerz scored twice before halftime and once late in the match to overcome Santos.
Neron Barrow broke the goalless deadlock in the 26th minute before Kelsey Benjamin extended the lead in the 37th minute. Santos entered the break two goals behind, with Lindy Gardner receiving a yellow card during first-half stoppage time.
Santos challenge became more difficult when Gardner received a second caution and was sent off in the 64th minute. Curtez Kellman and Kvist Paul were also booked for Slingerz, while Kymani Sealey and Ravin Naughton received yellow cards for Santos.
Yusifu Kargbo, who entered for Paul in the 70th minute, completed the scoring in the 83rd minute as Slingerz collected another victory in their title defence.
The league continues next weekend at the same venue.
