Endurance race meet to close GMR&SC season

Sunday’s Endurance Race Meet will bring the curtains down on Guyana Motor Racing &Sports Club (GMR&SC) 2017 season at the South Dakota Circuit.
According to an official from the club, the meet is expected to bring out “new blood” and should be a great test for drivers.
For those who may not privy to the aspect of Motor racing, endurance racing is the form which is meant to test the durability of equipment and endurance of participants. Teams of multiple drivers attempt to cover a large distance in a single event, with participants given a break with the ability to change during the race.
Drivers will be required to use the larger track for their two-long competition. Aside from mechanical issues, the first stop will come after 30 minutes and drivers will be monitored by the marshals.
The likes of Brian Ten-Pow and Shawn Seejattan have shown that they are a formidable pair, but the pair of Shiraz and Shahab Roshandin along with Anand Ramchand and Adrian Fernandes are all experienced and daunting opponents.
Five categories will be contested, 1500cc, 1600 cc, 1350 turbo charged which caters for starlets, 2000cc and Open class. Shiraz Roshandin holds the record for the laps at 128.
