An enforcement officer was on Monday charged with discharging a firearm in a public way, and appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrates’ Court.
Leonardo Sookram is accused of discharging a firearm within 100 yards of a public way, on October 10 at Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
Reports are that the 33-year-old enforcement officer of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was arrested on October 20 by Police ranks from Timehri Police Station.
While Police did not release any details of the incident, Sookram was released on $80,000 bail by Magistrate Judy Latchman. The case will continue on November 20.
