Enmore man stabbed during home invasion recovering
Forty-nine-year-old Dharmendra Lall of 274 Enmore, East Coast Demerara is thankful to be alive, having been stabbed several times about his body in a home invasion on Tuesday evening at about 00:00h.
According to the Police, Lall had awoken to use the washroom when he realised that one of his kitchen windows was open. While attempting to close the window, he was attacked by an identifiable male, who inflicted a number of stabs wounds about his body before fleeing the scene. Having managed to get help, the injured Lall was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where he was treated and is said to be recuperating.
Guyana Times has been told that Lall, who lives with his mother, has submitted statements to the Police, who subsequently went in search of his alleged attacker.
Police ‘C’ Division (East Coast Demerara) Commander, Calvin Brutus, has however noted that several efforts were made to locate the suspect, but his home has on all occasions been observed shut tight. Lall told this publication on Thursday, “The man go in we house and start to attack me. I was in the toilet; and when I came out the toilet, I called for my mother and tell she, ‘Like somebody deh in de house’.”
He said he raised the alarm after noticing that his window was open, and was immediately attacked by the man.
“He tell me moda seh, ‘He (Lall) dead! He got fuh dead! I come fuh kill he!” the 49-year old Lall recalled. Saying he knows the man by seeing him around the community, Lall, a father of three, has said he hopes the Police can find the person who tried to snatch his life away from him.
