The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) continues its mission to foster harmony and good relations through Regional sensitisation initiatives. On Monday, the Commission conducted an outreach exercise in the Moruca Sub District in Region One, Barima-Waini.
During the outreach, which was held at the Paloma Benab, Kumaka, the ERC team edified the residents on the functions of the ERC and informed them of efforts towards achieving its constitutional mandate.
The team engaged with residents to understand the challenges faced in their respective communities, inclusive of Santa Rosa, Manawarin, Rincon, Waramuri, Parakese, and others.

Responding to concerns of issues raised, ERC committed to investigating matters within their functions and to aid in the referral of those that require intervention from other agencies/ministries.

This collaborative effort received support from Toshaos and Community Support Officers (CSOs) in these villages and satellite communities.
ERC’s team was led by Chairman Shaikh Moeenul Hack and comprised of Commissioners Reverend Rodwell Porter, Deon Dick (Ras Khafra), Chandrowtie Sarran, Norris Witter, Ashton Simon, CEO, Gomin Camacho, and Secretariat staff.
The team also distributed toys among the village children, bringing the festive spirit of Christmas to life.
ERC remains steadfast in its commitment to combat discrimination and enhance tolerance and harmony throughout Guyana.
