“Escape” for NCC on Saturday

The Free Souls Dance Theatre Company of Guyana is an innovative and exciting theatrical dance company. Founded and spearheaded by Kijana Lewis, one of Guyana’s most decorated dancers and theatre practitioners, performing all across the Caribbean and the United States of America for over 10 years.
The Company is made up of all professional dancers from all across Guyana, bringing a variety of talents from all genres and cultural backgrounds of dance, which makes the Company very exciting and unique.  The Company uses dance as a medium to educate and entertain its audiences on a wide range of issues and socials ills that may affect our people; such as mental health, suicide, discrimination and gender-based violence, politics, race, poverty and much more, showing how dance can overcome these obstacles or raise awareness.
The dance group will be hosting its second annual production called “Escape” at the National Cultural Centre on Saturday, commencing at 20:00h.
The show talks about real life stories of people in Guyana and across the world. It will attempt to bring its audience closer to understand struggles people face in society, the struggles of the woman, the struggles of the man, domestic violence, discrimination and commercial sex workers.
The show promises to be a visual masterpiece that will keep its audience interested and at the edge of their seats.
The show is directed by Kijana Lewis and comprises seasoned dancers such as Paul Charles, Fiano Spencer, Kijana Lewis, Meleesa Payne, Mwanza Glenn, Nevon Arno, Isaiah Luther, Maranda Drakes-Hudson, Lotoya Browne, Radiante Frank and Onika Martin.
