Escarraga cops MACORP Invitational title

Local pro golfer Guillermo Escarraga showed his class as he outputted the competition to snatch the 11th annual MACORP Invitational title on Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Course.
Played among roughly 50 competitors under brilliant conditions suited for golf, Escarraga, the Product Support Manager of MACORP ended with a Gross of 90 and a best Net of 63; beating off some seasoned pros like; Clifford Reis, 8-time Guyana Open Champ Avinash Persaud, Gavin Todd, MACORP CEO Jorge Medina and other high-profile players.

Nearest to the Pin was also won by Escarraga who dominated the Greens to walk away with a number of awards. Third place winner Mohanlall Dinanauth also copped the Best Gross award for his Gross 73/Net 66 while finishing third with 33 points on the Back 9.
Ansa Mcal executive Troy Cadogan came in second place after enduring a good outing, shooting a gross of 40 on the frontline but it was Escarraga who emerged the top golfer this edition, walking away with the winning trophy along with a state-of-the-arc MACORP watch.
Following the presentation ceremony, CEO Medina said the company was happy to support the event which brings a lot of Guyanese together in a friendly yet competitive environment. He said it was good for the sport to have the support of the LGC members as well as the community of Lusignan.
Meanwhile, LGC President Hilbert Shields thanked the sponsors MACORP and Medina specifically for their support throughout the years and their support in making the event highly recognizable and fun for all golfers. Shields lauded Medina for not only his financial support but for providing the necessary machineries required to keep the Course in sublime condition.
