Escarraga reigns supreme at ANSA Motors inaugural tournament

It was a busy weekend on the putting greens at Lusignan with avid competition between local golfers. However, when the clubs were retired to their caddies, it was MACORP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Guillermo Escarraga, who emerged as the best of the lot.

In excess of 50 golfers gathered at the Lusignan Golf Club to participate in three flight categories with an array of prizes, compliments of ANSA Motors up for grabs.
At the end of the day, in the 0-9 flight category, Patrick Prashad emerged as the victor with 68/9. He was followed closely by Mike Mangal (74/9) and Richard Haniff (77/9).
Competition in the 10-18 category was a little more intense with the top five scoring very close to their opponents. However, Ayube Subhan had the best of the scores with 67/17. Aasrodeen Shaw (68/16) and Ian Gouveia (69/16) finished off the podium spots in that category. Lekhnarine Shivraj (72/17) and Patanjalee Persaud (73/16) placed fourth and fifth.
The 19-28 handicap flight division was the one with the top contenders and Escarraga proved to be the best of them with a winning score of 63/22. Second and third place were taken by Robert Hanoman (72/28) and Maxim Mangra (73/28) respectively. ANSA McAL’s Troy Cadogan (74/26) and Videsh Persaud (74/28) completed the top five.
While Escarraga was crowned the overall best golfer with a best net of 63, Patrick Prashad had the best gross of 77.
In other individual awards, Shivraj copped the accolade for the nearest to the pin. On the other hand, Satrohan Tewari was awarded for having the longest drive.
The inaugural tournament, which was hosted by ANSA Motors, received support from their associates Dewar’s , Top Brands Beverages and Heineken. The tournament also had a little more spice with a wide array of different vehicle models on show.
Patrons and players ogled the showcase to the delight of Brand Coordinator Brigeshwar Arjun. Arjun expressed elation at being able to host ANSA Motors’ first tournament while having a platform to display its products.
