Hours after robbing a Venezuelan at a hotel in Charity, Essequibo Coast, a 32-year-old man of Rubber Dam, Charity, was arrest on Saturday.
Reports are that Alexander Gregorio called “Alex”, of Portia Ortiz, Venezuela, was standing in the lobby of the hotel when the suspect approached and relieved him of his wallet containing US00, his passport, a galaxy cellular phone and made good his escape. The robbery occurred at about 03:00h.
The Police were contacted and based on their quick response; they were able to apprehend the suspect. They recovered US$2600 and the phone.
He taken into custody and is expected to be charged shortly.
A Police source told Guyana Times that after taking into consideration the amount of money that was found in the possession of the perpetrator, it is believed he had an accomplice.
From information gathered, the Venezuelan might have been followed to his hotel.
The Police are questioning the suspect on the whereabouts of his accomplice.
